Kent Police have charged a man from East Farleigh with murder following the tragic death of a Maidstone father, Jamie Simmons.
Police were called to a home on Cambridge Crescent, Maidstone, at 9.13pm on Monday, 4 May 2020. Paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene and found Jamie Simmons deceased.
At 9.38pm, officers arrested 29-year-old Kieron Nicholson of Vicarage Road, East Farleigh. The Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate immediately launched an investigation into the incident.
On Wednesday, 6 May, the Crown Prosecution Service formally charged Nicholson with murder. He is currently remanded in custody and is due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court.
In addition, a 29-year-old Maidstone man, also arrested on suspicion of murder, has been released on bail until 2 June. A woman in her 20s from Tonbridge, initially arrested in connection with the case, has been released while investigations continue.
Kent Police have issued an appeal for anyone with information about the case to come forward. Members of the public are asked to call 01622 604100 and quote reference 04-1448.
