Chaos erupted in Pepys Close, Dartford, when a kitchen fire broke out yesterday evening. The Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) was scrambled at 7.20pm after urgent calls reported flames engulfing a home.
Three fire engines arrived at the scene, with crews quickly donning breathing apparatus and launching hose reel jets to battle the inferno.
Five people were treated for smoke inhalation by South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) paramedics. Their current condition remains undisclosed as medics continue care.
Emergency teams fought the blaze for around three hours, managing to fully extinguish the fire by approximately 10pm.
A KFRS spokesperson said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a kitchen fire on Pepys Close, in Dartford. Three fire engines attended and crews, wearing breathing apparatus, used hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. Five people were passed into the care of SECAmb for smoke inhalation. The KFRS Voluntary Response Team attended to support affected residents. The cause is not yet known.”
