A man has tragically died following an early morning incident on the undercliff path between Ovingdean and Rottingdean, Sussex Police confirmed.
Emergency services swiftly responded to the coastal path at around 6.10am on Thursday, 20 June after concerns were raised for the man’s welfare. Paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene and attempted to save him.
Sadly, despite their best efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the location.
Sussex Police have launched a full investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the death. Officers confirmed the man’s next of kin have been informed and are receiving support during this difficult time.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident,” a police spokesperson said.
Police are appealing to anyone who was near the undercliff path between Ovingdean and Rottingdean on the morning of Thursday 20 June to come forward. They are particularly keen to hear from witnesses who may have seen anything suspicious.
