Kent Police are investigating a serious tractor crash that occurred on an overbridge near Wrotham, leaving a man critically injured. The incident took place on Monday, 18 August, at 11.17am on the A227 road.
Emergency services, including Kent Fire and Rescue and the South East Coast Ambulance Service, responded quickly to the scene. The tractor driver was airlifted to hospital and is currently in critical but stable condition. His next of kin have been informed.
Initial investigations indicate that the tractor became separated from its trailer before crashing and tumbling onto the central reservation between junctions 2 and 3 of the M20 motorway. As a result, both the M20 and A227 roads have been closed to allow for recovery work.
Authorities have put diversions in place and are advising drivers to seek alternative routes while the roads remain closed.
Kent Police have issued an appeal for witnesses and drivers with dashcam footage who were in the area at the time of the crash to come forward. A spokesperson said, “We are appealing for witnesses and drivers with dashcam footage who may have been in the area at the time to come forward. Your information could be vital to our investigation.”
