A distress call at 12:38pm on Sunday prompted a rapid emergency response as firefighters rushed to tackle a fierce blaze engulfing a bungalow in Herne Bay.

Upon arrival, crews equipped themselves with breathing apparatus and attacked the flames using hose reel jets and foam, determined to save the property from destruction.

Despite the heroic efforts of the fire brigade, one individual sustained minor burns to their head. Paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service provided immediate medical assistance at the scene, ensuring the injured person received prompt care.

After the smoke cleared and the fire was brought under control, investigators began probing the cause of the blaze. Alarmingly, they found that the bungalow had no working smoke alarms, raising serious safety concerns.

The emergency response underscores the dedication of fire crews to protecting lives and homes. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and prioritise fire safety measures.

New legal regulations require landlords and property managers of multi-occupied buildings in Kent and Medway to implement strict fire safety protocols. These rules aim to prevent tragedies like this from occurring in the future.
