Benjamin Bowler, 40, from Richmond Road, Gillingham, has been charged with the murder of a 39-year-old woman. Kent Police confirmed that the two individuals were known to each other.

Officers and South East Coast Ambulance Service responded to a property on Richmond Road at 4:51pm on Thursday, 16 January 2020. Despite their efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate launched a full murder investigation following the incident. On Sunday, 19 January, the Crown Prosecution Service authorised charges against Bowler for murder.

Benjamin Bowler appeared via video link at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 20 January. He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday, 22 January.
