A tragic incident occurred in Kent during Friday’s severe storm when a young girl died and her friend was critically injured after a tree toppled in the village of Bobbing, near Sittingbourne.
Emergency services were called to Parsonage Lane shortly after midday following reports that two children had been struck by the falling tree. Paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service, the Kent, Sussex and Surrey Air Ambulance, and Kent Fire and Rescue responded promptly to the scene.
A Kent Police spokesman confirmed the severity of the incident, stating, “One child was declared deceased at the scene, and another was airlifted to a London hospital with serious injuries.”
Kent Police are currently compiling a file for the coroner as investigations into the tragic event continue.
