A significant fire erupted in a garage on Hawe Farm Way, Herne Bay, this Wednesday morning, prompting an urgent emergency response. Kent Fire and Rescue Service received the call at 9:43am, dispatching three fire engines and ambulance crews to the location.
Firefighters from Canterbury and nearby areas arrived promptly and fought the blaze using high-pressure hose reels, main jets, and a modern compressed air foam system (CAFs). Wearing breathing apparatus, the crews managed to contain the fire to the garage building.
One individual required urgent medical attention and was treated by South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb). Fortunately, no serious injuries have been reported, although the person’s condition has not been disclosed.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown. Fire officers are conducting an ongoing investigation to determine how the blaze started.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service has issued a safety warning to local residents, advising them to keep garages and outbuildings clear of hazards. They also emphasize the importance of installing smoke alarms in these areas to help prevent future incidents.
The fire was brought under control by 1:59pm, and firefighters have since left the scene. Residents passing through Hawe Farm Way are advised to remain cautious as the investigation continues.
