Emergency crews were scrambled in the early hours after a van smashed through metal railings, mounted a wall, and crashed into an elderly care home in Peacehaven.
The terrifying crash happened around 2am at the junction of Arundel Road and Cissbury Avenue. Witnesses were jolted awake by a massive bang as the van ripped through barriers and slammed into the building.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS), South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb), and Sussex Police all rushed to the scene to secure the area and check for injuries. So far, it is unclear if anyone inside the care home or the driver was hurt.
Authorities have cordoned off the area while firefighters assess structural damage and make the site safe. Sussex Police have been approached for comment as investigations continue.
