Kent Fire and Rescue Service responded quickly to a house fire on The Street in Mereworth, near Maidstone. Four fire engines, a height vehicle, and the Volunteer Response Team were dispatched to the scene to tackle the blaze.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus fought the fire using two main jets, two hose reels, and water supplied from a nearby hydrant. The fire originated on the first floor and spread into the roof space, creating fierce flames that required extensive efforts to control.
Three people were injured as a result of the fire. One adult suffered burns, while two adults and one child experienced smoke inhalation. All injured individuals were treated by SECAmb paramedics after being found outside the property. Additionally, firefighters successfully rescued two people from inside the house during the incident.
The cause of the fire is believed to have started in a first-floor bedroom, but the exact reason remains under investigation by the authorities.
