Police have launched a targeted crackdown on vehicle crime in the Wombourne and Himley areas following numerous complaints from local residents. The operation began this evening with officers focusing on reducing incidents of illegal vehicle use and related offences.
Within minutes of the blitz starting, officers pursued a car in Himley that failed to stop when signalled. The driver was subsequently arrested after failing a roadside drug test.
The vehicle was issued with multiple penalties including charges for driving with illegal number plates, failing to stop for police, and other driving offences. Additionally, a passenger in the vehicle was found to be in possession of prohibited items and has been required to attend the police station for questioning.
Both the driver and passenger are also facing further reports for breaching lockdown regulations.
Staffordshire Police expressed gratitude towards the community for their prompt reporting and continued support during the operation. Officers reiterated that “vehicle crime and anti-social behaviour won’t be tolerated” as part of their ongoing commitment to public safety.
The operation is being conducted under the banner of #OpLightning.
