Richard Sherriff, 40, was sentenced to 11 years in prison at Stafford Crown Court after being found guilty of raping a boy aged between 13 and 15. The offences took place between May 2008 and February 2009.
Sherriff, who is based in Main Road, Little Haywood, was acquitted of an additional charge of assault by penetration on the same victim during the same period. The verdict followed a tense trial at Stafford Crown Court.
Detective Inspector Zoe Kelsall of Staffordshire Police praised the victim’s bravery, stating, “Although time has passed, we remain committed to supporting victims and delivering justice. I want to pay tribute to the victim and the courage he demonstrated in helping us bring this case before the courts.”
DI Kelsall added, “We will always do whatever it takes to bring offenders to justice, while ensuring victims and their families get the support they need.”
Staffordshire Police urge anyone who has suffered sexual abuse or suspects others may be at risk to contact them on 101 for support and to report concerns.
