Co-operative Childcare in Burton has been ordered to close for six weeks after one of its staff members, Craig Ordish, 38, was charged with sexual assault on a minor and two counts of making indecent images of a child.

Just 18 months ago, the nursery received a “good” rating from Ofsted, which praised its care and education of 90 children under the age of four. However, the recent allegations against Ordish have led to an immediate shutdown, causing concern among parents and the local community.

Craig Ordish is scheduled to appear at Stafford Crown Court on November 10, where his trial will begin. The case has had a significant impact on the community as investigations continue.

Staffordshire Police have urged anyone with information related to the case to come forward. Members of the public can report details or concerns through the Staffordshire Police website at https://mipp.police.uk/operation/STAFFS23C03-PO1.
