Thames Valley Police have launched a murder investigation following a fatal stabbing in Lower Earley, Reading. The incident occurred on Saturday at around 16:25 BST in an alleyway linking Cutbush Lane, Kensington Close, and Gypsy Lane.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was rushed to hospital but later died from his injuries. A teenage boy from Reading has been arrested in connection with the stabbing and remains in police custody.

An extensive police cordon remains in place around the alley as officers continue their inquiries. Detective Inspector Nick Hind from the Major Crime Unit described the incident as “distressing” but reassured the public that there is no ongoing threat to the community.

Police have increased patrols in the area to provide reassurance to local residents. Officers are also appealing for witnesses who were near the alley between 16:00 and 17:00 BST on the day of the stabbing to come forward. They are particularly interested in any CCTV, dashcam, or mobile phone footage that could assist the investigation.

Family members of the victim have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers as the investigation progresses.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Thames Valley Police on 101, quoting reference 43260256521, or to provide details anonymously through Crimestoppers.
