Two women are fighting for their lives after a horror head-on crash on the A350 near Lacock. The serious collision occurred just before 9.15am, approximately 300 metres north of the Whitehall Garden Centre junction.
A grey SsangYong Rexton and a private hire Vauxhall minibus collided violently, causing severe injuries to those involved.
The driver of the SsangYong, a woman in her 50s, sustained serious injuries. A female passenger in the minibus, aged in her 40s, also suffered severe injuries. Both victims were stabilised at the scene by paramedics, including the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity’s critical care team, before being rushed to hospital.
A spokesperson for the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity said, “Our crew were covering Chippenham when they were dispatched to the incident at 09:16. They treated a patient on scene before taking them by road ambulance to hospital for further care.”
The minibus driver was also taken to hospital as a precaution but is not believed to have sustained serious injuries.
As of 5.30pm, the A350 between Lackham and Lacock remains closed. Forensic teams are at the scene conducting collision investigations and recovering vehicles.
Wiltshire Police confirmed, “Two individuals are in a life-threatening condition following this morning’s collision on Corsham Road, Lacock. The car driver and a minibus passenger have both been seriously injured and taken to hospital. The minibus driver is also in hospital as a precaution.”
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 01225 694597, quoting log number 53.
