A tragic crash in central Swindon has resulted in the death of a man who reportedly suffered a medical episode while driving. The incident occurred on Station Road late on Friday, 21 November.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 10.30pm after a single-vehicle collision. The driver’s Skoda collided with a fence before flipping over, causing significant disruption and prompting a large emergency response including fire crews and paramedics.
The 52-year-old driver was treated by paramedics at the scene but was sadly pronounced dead shortly afterwards. It is believed the man suffered a medical emergency while behind the wheel, which led to the crash.
Station Road was closed for several hours as emergency teams and council workers worked to clear the wreckage and repair damaged street furniture.
Wiltshire Police confirmed the death and stated that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the collision. A police spokesperson said, “Our thoughts are with the man’s family at this difficult time. The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and Station Road has now reopened.”
