A 36-year-old man from Swindon has been arrested following a savage stabbing incident in Penhill. The victim, aged 39, remains in critical condition in hospital after the brutal assault.

The suspect is being held on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. The injured man was rushed to hospital with life-threatening wounds.

Detectives are urgently seeking witnesses to the shocking attack that took place near the North Swindon Family Centre on Atworth Close.

Chief Inspector Carly Nesbitt said: “We want anyone near the North Swindon Family Centre on Atworth Close around 5:30 pm to come forward if they saw anything.”

“We understand this will have shaken the community. Expect increased police patrols in the area over the next few days. If you have information or concerns, please talk to our officers.”

“At this time, we are not looking for anyone else connected to the stabbing and do not believe there is any ongoing threat.”

Police have launched a witness appeal. If you witnessed the stabbing or have any footage, call Wiltshire Police on 101 quoting log 267 dated 03/12. In an emergency, dial 999 immediately.
