Wiltshire Police are urgently appealing for help to locate a white Dacia Jogger Expression involved in a serious hit-and-run incident that left a police officer injured over the weekend.
The vehicle, registered WU73 MXL, was seen at approximately 11:30pm on Saturday, June 1, in Conscience Lane, Devizes. During the incident, a police officer stopped the car and attempted to approach the occupants. Instead of cooperating, the driver accelerated away, deliberately striking the officer.
The injured officer was taken to hospital and has since been discharged. They are currently recovering at home.
Following extensive investigations, a man in his 30s from Twerton, Bath, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Despite the arrest, the white Dacia remains at large, and police continue their search for the vehicle.
Authorities have released an image of a similar vehicle and believe the white Dacia may be in the area west of Bath. Wiltshire Police are urging anyone with information about the vehicle or who witnessed the incident to contact them on 101, quoting log number 383 of June 1.
“The assistance of the community is vital,” police said. “All information will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.”
