A Wiltshire Police officer was injured in a shocking hit-and-run attack near Devizes on June 1st. Two arrests have been made after a car was allegedly driven straight at the officer, causing serious injuries.
A 20-year-old man from Trowbridge was arrested on charges including causing grievous bodily harm with intent, dangerous driving, and other driving offences. Additionally, a 22-year-old woman from Bristol faces charges of perverting the course of justice. Both suspects remain in custody following the incident.
The dramatic incident occurred when officers approached a white Dacia Jogger Expression parked in a field on Conscience Lane, near Devizes. The vehicle then rammed the officer, resulting in injuries that required hospital treatment. Fortunately, the officer has since been discharged and is recovering at home.
Earlier in the investigation, a man in his 30s from Twerton, near Bath, was arrested but later released without charge. The car believed to be involved in the attack has now been seized by Wiltshire Police.
Detective Inspector Steve Edwards commented on the case: “This is a serious incident and the investigation is moving swiftly. We thank the public for their ongoing support and urge anyone with information to come forward.”
