A motorcyclist has died after a serious collision on the A4361 in Winterbourne Monkton early on 30 August 2024.

The crash occurred around 8:00 AM when a northbound Kawasaki motorcycle collided head-on with a Ford Transit Custom van travelling in the opposite direction.

Despite the efforts of emergency crews, the rider, a man in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the van was not injured.

Wiltshire Police have informed the victim’s next of kin and offered their condolences. A police spokesperson said, “Our thoughts are with them at this sad time.”

The A4361 remains closed while police carry out their investigation. The road will reopen once inquiries are complete.

Officers are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward. Witnesses can contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 01225 694597, quoting log number 49 of 30 August 2024, or email SCIT@wiltshire.police.uk.

Wiltshire Police continue to investigate the exact cause of the collision. The inquiry is ongoing.
