Wiltshire Police are currently hunting a suspect following a shocking assault on a woman on The Downs, near Bishopdown Road in Salisbury.
The incident occurred just before 3pm on Monday, 23 September. The victim was approached from behind by a white male with stubble, who was wearing a grey tracksuit with the hood pulled up.
The man threatened the woman before shoving her to the ground, causing minor injuries. After the assault, the suspect fled through bushes towards Bishopdown Road.
Inspector Tina Osborn commented on the case, stating, “We are taking this report very seriously. Officers were in the area immediately after being alerted and carried out searches.”
She added, “There will be increased police presence while the investigation continues. If you have any information, please come forward.”
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the assault or has relevant information to call 999 quoting log 187 of 23 September or to contact Wiltshire Police via their website.
The force is committed to catching the culprit and ensuring the safety of the local community.
