Wiltshire Police are actively investigating after a woman was assaulted in broad daylight on The Downs, Salisbury, on Monday afternoon, 23 September 2024.
Just before 3pm, the victim was approached from behind near Bishopdown Road by a man who threatened her before pushing her to the ground and fleeing the scene. The woman sustained minor injuries during the incident.
The suspect is described as a white male with stubble, wearing a grey tracksuit with the hood up.
Detective Inspector Eirin Martin commented: “This is a really concerning incident where a man has targeted a lone woman during daylight hours. We urge anyone who was in the area on Monday and may have seen someone matching the suspect’s description to come forward.”
Police are asking residents and motorists to review any doorbell camera, dashcam, or CCTV footage that might show the suspect or the incident. DI Martin added, “We cannot solve these offences alone. We need the community to work with us to help keep the area safe.”
Officers in both uniform and plain clothes continue to patrol the area as the investigation progresses.
