A tragic end has come to the search for Sebastian Sailes, 21, who went missing from Chippenham. Specialist divers recovered a body during a coordinated multi-agency search on Tuesday 11 March 2025.
The recovery was part of a joint effort involving Avon & Somerset Police, the Metropolitan Police, and Wiltshire Police, who led the extensive operation.
While formal identification is still pending, officials strongly believe the body is that of Sebastian Sailes. His disappearance had prompted a large-scale search with multiple agencies pooling resources to locate him.
Wiltshire Police confirmed that Sebastian’s family has been informed and is being supported by specially trained officers during this painful time.
“Our divers, working with Avon & Somerset Police and the Metropolitan Police, located the 21-year-old missing person from Chippenham on Tuesday 11 March. Our sincere condolences are with the family at this incredibly difficult time,” said a spokesperson for the dive and recovery team.
Wiltshire Police thanked everyone involved in the search and extended heartfelt sympathies to Sebastian’s family and friends. Further updates will be provided once formal identification is complete and the coroner has been notified.
