The Braintree community is in mourning following the tragic murder of Scott Gilhooly, 44, at the Swiss Bell pub on Sunday, 17 May. Scott was remembered by his family as a man with a “heart of gold” who touched many lives.
“Scott was many things to so many people,” his family said. “He was a much-loved father, son, brother, uncle and brother-in-law. Scott was community spirited, headstrong and fiercely loyal. He made us laugh every day with his unique sense of humour.”
His family also highlighted Scott’s dedication to charity work and fundraising, saying, “Scott was beloved by the local community, thanks to his charity work and fundraising efforts. His death leaves an enormous void in all our lives.”
A 23-year-old local man has been charged with the murder of Scott Gilhooly. The suspect is scheduled to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on 2 November.
Essex Police continue to investigate the case and have increased patrols around Braintree. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
