A woman in her 50s was fatally injured in a collision on Grosvenor Drive in Loughton just before 12.15am on Friday. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Essex Police have arrested a 61-year-old man from Loughton on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident. The man remains in custody as detectives carry out further inquiries.

Authorities have cordoned off part of Grosvenor Drive while the investigation is ongoing. Detective Chief Inspector Scott Egerton from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate reassured the public, stating, “We do not believe there is a wider risk to the public. We think all involved parties know each other and are not looking for anyone else.”

He also confirmed that a police presence will remain in the area throughout the day and urged anyone with information to come forward.

Witnesses who saw the collision or have CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage are asked to contact Essex Police on 101, quoting incident 13 of 20 August. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
