On the evening of Monday 11 April, police rushed to the M11 following reports of a dark-coloured van left unattended on the hard shoulder. The incident occurred between the Redbridge roundabout and Loughton, just after 8pm BST.
Officers arriving at the scene discovered a man inside the van who required urgent medical attention. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital but has since died. Essex Police are treating the death as unexplained.
Essex Police have issued an appeal for anyone who noticed suspicious behaviour on this stretch of the M11 between 7.30pm and 8.10pm on 11 April to come forward. Drivers with dashcam footage capturing any unusual activity during this time are particularly encouraged to report it.
To provide information, members of the public can submit a report online via the Essex Police website using the ‘1 Chat’ button to speak to an operator between 7am and 11pm. Alternatively, they can call 101 quoting incident number 1121 of 11 April.
Police have emphasised that any tips could be crucial in solving this mystery death, and their investigation is ongoing.
