Tragedy struck on Staithes Road, Preston, just before 7.15am on 1 March when a dark silver Vauxhall Astra collided with a blue Yamaha motorbike, resulting in the death of 59-year-old Stephen Chapman.

Stephen Chapman, a well-known local man, died at the scene after the collision. Reports indicate that the car crossed onto the wrong side of the road before the crash.

He leaves behind a devastated wife and family, who have requested privacy as they come to terms with their loss.

A 33-year-old man was initially arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving but has since been released under investigation while police continue to gather evidence.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, saw the vehicles beforehand, or noticed any suspicious behaviour afterwards to come forward. Witnesses are encouraged to contact Lancashire Police on 101.
