A man was hospitalised after a brutal assault in Reading that left him with a broken hip. Thames Valley Police have launched an urgent appeal for witnesses following the shocking attack.
The incident occurred around 7pm on Thursday 15 October near the corner of Oxford Road and Weald Rise. The 44-year-old victim and his brother were standing together when a stranger suddenly charged at them.
The assailant grabbed the victim by his hoodie and violently swung him around, causing the man to fall and break his hip. The attacker then fled up Weald Rise.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6ft tall, with a skinny build and dark hair. He is believed to be in his mid-thirties and spoke with an Eastern European, possibly Polish, accent. At the time of the attack, he was wearing black combat trousers and a dark grey jacket.
The victim was treated and discharged from Royal Berkshire Hospital.
Detective Constable Hugh Bailey, leading the investigation from Reading police station, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident to come forward. The area would have been busy at this time, so drivers with dashcam footage should please review their recordings.”
