A 44-year-old man was violently assaulted and suffered a broken hip in a shocking late-night attack in Reading. Thames Valley Police are actively searching for the offender responsible for the incident.
The attack occurred at around 7pm on Thursday, 15 October, at the busy junction of Oxford Road and Weald Rise. The victim and his brother were approached suddenly by the assailant, who grabbed the man by his hoodie and swung him violently to the ground. The victim slipped during the fall and broke his hip.
After the assault, the attacker fled back up Weald Rise and disappeared into the evening.
The offender is described as a skinny, white man approximately 6ft tall, believed to be in his mid-thirties. He had dark hair and spoke with an Eastern European accent, possibly Polish. At the time, he was wearing black combat trousers and a dark grey jacket.
The injured man was taken to Royal Berkshire Hospital for treatment but has since been discharged.
Detective Constable Hugh Bailey, who is leading the investigation, said: “I’m appealing to anyone who saw the assault to come forward. Oxford Road would have been busy at the time, so drivers with dash-cam footage, please check your recordings.”
