Five years after Sarah disappeared from Bazes Shaw on the evening of 9 October 2018, the search for her body continues. She was reported missing two days later, and her ex-partner, Ben Lacomba, was arrested and later convicted of her murder in 2019. Lacomba received a life sentence with a minimum term of 27 years.
Despite the conviction, Sarah’s body has not been found. Detective Chief Inspector Neil Kimber of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate stated: “Lacomba has never revealed what happened to Sarah, and sadly her body remains missing. Her killer may be in custody, but not knowing where she is causes immense pain for her family.”
Police believe that Lacomba transported Sarah’s body in a red Vauxhall Zafira taxi, which was marked with writing on the side. Investigators suspect that her remains are hidden somewhere in a rural area near New Ash Green, Longfield, or towards Sevenoaks.
The search for Sarah’s body is one of the largest in Kent Police history. Over 1,300 locations have been searched, with 120 officers involved daily, supported by police dogs, drones, and the marine unit.
Det Ch Insp Kimber added: “Any piece of information, however small, could be the breakthrough we need. Sarah was a beloved daughter, sister, and mother of five children. She would have turned 52 this year.”
Authorities are urging anyone with information, no matter how trivial it may seem, to come forward. They remain determined to bring peace to Sarah’s loved ones by finding her final resting place.
