A serious crash involving a lorry and a pedestrian near the Dartford Crossing has brought the A282 section of the M25 to a standstill. The incident occurred on October 14, 2023, at approximately 2:25pm between junctions 1B and 2.
Emergency services quickly responded to the scene, resulting in a full closure of the M25 in both directions between these junctions. Kent Police and the South East Coast Ambulance Service are currently managing the situation, which has caused extensive traffic jams and gridlock across the area.
A spokesperson for Kent Police stated: “Kent Police was called at around 2.25pm on Saturday, October 14, 2023, following a serious collision involving a lorry and a pedestrian on the A282 near the Dartford Crossing. Officers are currently in attendance, and the M25 is closed in both directions between Junctions 1B and 2. Delays are expected, and motorists are advised to find alternative routes if possible.”
Traffic congestion has already built up, with queues extending anticlockwise from Junction 2 (Darenth Interchange) to Junction 1B (Princes Road), and further back as far as Junction 3 (Swanley Interchange). Drivers are strongly advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes to prevent being caught in the heavy traffic.
