Kent Police have launched a murder investigation following a fatal attack in Margate. A man in his 40s was savagely bludgeoned to death in a flat on Sandhurst Place in the early hours of Saturday, 12 October 2019.
Emergency services were called to the new build property just after 2am. One resident reported hearing terrifying screams moments before armed police and ambulance crews arrived at the scene.
The victim was pronounced dead at the property. Officers quickly arrested a suspect, who is known to the victim, on suspicion of murder.
Specialist crime teams and search dogs have been conducting searches in the nearby Aldi car park and surrounding areas in an effort to locate the murder weapon.
A Kent Police spokesperson said, “Kent Police was called to Sandhurst Place, Margate at 2am on Saturday 12 October 2019. A man in his 40s was declared deceased at the scene. A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. Both parties were known to each other.”
The Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate have taken over the investigation. Officers remain at the scene as enquiries continue.
