A homeless charity in Gravesham has received a welcome financial boost from the Kent Police Property Fund. The Gravesham Sanctuary was awarded £1,000 to purchase kitchen appliances for their new base, enabling them to provide hot meals to people experiencing homelessness.
The Sanctuary operates a winter shelter and drop-in centre for the homeless, offering a safe place to sleep, hot food and drinks, showers, laundry facilities, clothing, and crucial assistance with obtaining paperwork and identification documents.
PC Zak Khan personally handed over the cheque to Lorna and Steve Nolan of the Sanctuary. He commented, “I am delighted to be about to present this money to the Gravesham Sanctuary. They provide a much-needed service to those who find themselves homeless over the winter months.”
The Kent Police Property Fund is supported by proceeds from the sale of items seized during police operations. These funds are then donated to local charities that make a tangible difference in their communities.
