The M20 motorway was temporarily closed on Sunday after a car caught fire between Junction 8 and Junction 9, approximately four miles before Ashford.

Kent Police quickly closed the coastbound carriageway to ensure safety and diverted traffic onto the A20 while firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.

Firefighters used a hose reel to tackle the fire and successfully brought the situation under control.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported in the incident, which caused significant disruption on one of Kent’s busiest routes.
