Four suspects have been arrested after a daring attempt to steal a JCB digger in Sevenoaks.
On Thursday evening, 20 January 2026, at around 8.15pm, Kent Police were called to an industrial site in West Kingsdown. Three men had cut through a fence and entered the site with the intention of stealing a shiny JCB digger.
Officers caught the suspects red-handed as one man was driving the digger off the premises. The thief abandoned the digger and fled on foot, prompting a police chase.
With assistance from the National Police Air Service and PC Boss, a police dog, the suspect was quickly tracked down and arrested.
A thorough search of the area uncovered two suspicious vehicles linked to the attempted raid. Police also detained three other individuals – two men and a woman – in connection with the incident.
All four suspects have been bailed pending further investigation.
Although the digger heist was foiled, Kent Police have pledged to intensify efforts to combat construction site crime across the region.
