A brutal smash on Deanwood Drive in Gillingham at 3.12am on February 20 has left two people battling life-threatening injuries. Both victims were airlifted to hospital in critical condition.
Kent Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service, Kent Fire and Rescue, and the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance all responded to the scene. In total, three people were rushed to London hospitals.
The fire brigade deployed three engines and concluded their operations by 4.47am. Deanwood Drive was closed in both directions between Maidstone Road and Hawbeck Road for over six hours, finally reopening around 9.20am.
A Kent Police spokesperson said, “Kent Police was called at 3.12am to reports of a road traffic collision. Two people were taken to a London hospital in a life-threatening condition.”
A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesperson added, “Critical care paramedics and The Air Ambulance Charity treated three patients at the scene before transferring all to London hospitals for further medical care.”
