Chaos erupted on the A2 at dawn on Sunday, 23 November 2025. At 5:21am, a white Mercedes A45 AMG was travelling coastbound along Watling Street when it collided with a black BMW 1 Series. The BMW then crashed into a white Volvo lorry, resulting in a severe three-vehicle pile-up.
Kent Police, firefighters, and paramedics quickly responded to the scene. The 27-year-old driver of the BMW was rushed to hospital and remains in a critical condition. His family has been informed of his status.
Another man in his 20s was also treated at the hospital before being arrested. He faces charges of serious injury by dangerous driving and drink-driving. Police have since bailed him pending further investigation.
Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is appealing for witnesses to come forward. Officers are especially interested in any dashcam footage of the incident to assist with their inquiries.
