Police were called to a field near Ashenbank Woods, Halfpence Lane, Kent, after reports of a large black and white Spaniel attacking sheep at approximately 9.20am on Monday 6 May 2024.
The attack resulted in the deaths of three ewes, with several other sheep requiring urgent veterinary treatment. The dog and its owner had already left the scene before officers arrived.
Despite a thorough search of the area, the dog has not been located. Police continue to investigate the incident.
PC Nathan Colman, the investigating officer, said, ‘This was a very distressing attack. We are working hard to identify who should have been controlling the dog at the time. Offences like this hit farmers hard, especially during lambing season.’
He urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with the enquiries.
