A man in his 50s is fighting for his life after a serious motorcycle crash on Berwick Way near the Medway Tunnel yesterday (Sunday 12th May 2024) at around 4:30 pm.
Eyewitnesses reported that the rider was forced into the central reservation after a car suddenly cut him off.
According to witnesses, the motorcyclist was riding calmly when a black BMW S1000 XR abruptly veered into his path. This caused the rider to lose control and crash violently into the central reservation, suffering severe injuries.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, treating the injured man before transporting him to King’s College Hospital in London. He remains in serious but stable condition.
Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is currently investigating the crash. A police spokesman said: “Dashcam footage and witnesses are sought by officers investigating a serious collision in Rochester.”
Motorists who were in the area at the time are urged to check any dashcam recordings that could assist the investigation.
