A cyclist in his 70s has died following a tragic collision in Strood on Tuesday morning, 14 May 2024.

At around 11.20am, the man was riding a black bike along Canal Road towards the High Street when he collided with the driver’s door of a stationary blue MG ZS. The car was parked opposite the entrance to Strood railway station.

Emergency services quickly attended the scene and the cyclist was taken to hospital. Sadly, he later died from his injuries.

Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information about the incident. They are also requesting any dashcam footage that could help clarify the circumstances of the collision.

Witnesses can contact Kent Police directly, and dashcam footage can be submitted online via the official police evidence portal.

Police are treating the incident as a tragic accident and are committed to gathering all relevant information to fully understand what happened.
