A body found in the search for missing Folkestone woman Leah Daley has been confirmed by Kent Police. Leah, aged 24, had been missing for over a week before the grim discovery on Friday afternoon, 17 May 2024.
The body was located in undergrowth at The Warren, close to the area where Leah was last seen. This tragic development has deeply affected her family and the local community.
Leah Daley was last spotted at The Warren on the evening of Monday, 5 May 2024, around 7pm during the May bank holiday. Since that time, she had vanished without any contact, which her family described as completely out of character for her.
Following her disappearance, Kent Police launched an extensive search operation focusing on Folkestone Harbour and The Warren. CCTV footage showing Leah’s last known movements was released to the public in the hope of generating leads. The community also rallied online, creating a Facebook group and using the hashtag #findleahdaley to raise awareness.
Inspector Jay Langshaw appealed to the public for help, stating: “If anyone saw or spoke to Leah between 3:30pm and 7pm on 5 May near Folkestone Harbour and The Warren, please come forward.” During the search period, vigils and prayer gatherings were held as the community hoped for positive news.
A Kent Police spokesperson confirmed the discovery of the body but noted that formal identification was still pending: “A body has been found during a search in undergrowth at The Warren in Folkestone on the afternoon of Friday 17 May 2024. Although formal identification has not yet taken place, the family of a 24-year-old woman reported missing from the town has been informed.”
The community remains devastated by this heartbreaking development. Authorities continue their investigation and urge anyone with information to contact them immediately as they seek answers in the case of Leah Daley.
