Kent Police have launched a massive hunt for Jacob Winnett, a notorious burglar who escaped from Sheppey prison. The 26-year-old, known for targeting 17 premises over five months, is currently on the run and believed to be hiding in the Sheppey area. Authorities also suspect he may have links to Medway.

Winnett’s crime spree caused significant distress to local communities. Between October 2019 and February 2020, he terrorised homes and businesses with a series of break-ins that left dozens of victims affected and prompted swift law enforcement action. He was eventually imprisoned at Sheppey prison but has now made a daring escape.

Police are urging the public to stay alert and not to approach Winnett if they see him. Instead, they should call 999 immediately and quote reference number 04-0254. Officers have emphasised that there is no wider threat to the public, but caution remains essential. A police spokesperson said, “Public safety remains our top priority.”

Members of the public can help by being vigilant for any suspicious activity in Sheppey and surrounding areas. Any sightings should be reported immediately via 999 using the case number provided. Additionally, anonymous tips can be submitted to Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555111 or online.

Kent Police are working hard to track down the escaped criminal and protect local communities. They rely on the public’s assistance to prevent further incidents. Residents are encouraged to stay vigilant and help authorities capture this dangerous escapee before he strikes again.
