The Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) responded promptly at 6.37pm this evening after a car caught fire on Pier Road, Gillingham. Emergency services arrived quickly to control and extinguish the blaze.
One fire engine reached the scene with firefighters equipped in breathing apparatus. They used a high-pressure hose reel jet to tackle the flames directly, ensuring the fire was put out efficiently.
During the firefighting operation, Kent Police temporarily closed Pier Road to protect the public and emergency personnel. This precaution helped maintain safety throughout the incident.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the fire. Once the firefighters confirmed the area was safe and the fire fully extinguished, the road was reopened promptly to traffic.
The swift and effective response by KFRS crews prevented the fire from spreading and causing further damage. Their quick action ensured the situation was resolved safely and without delay.
