A 22-year-old man was arrested after a terrifying knife incident at the George Public House in Gravesend during the Euros final on Sunday, July 14.
Police report that the suspect entered the busy pub on Hever Court Road at around 7:18 PM and approached a man he knew. The suspect attempted to assault the victim with a knife, but fortunately, no one was injured during the incident.
After the attempted attack, the suspect fled the scene, leaving the knife behind. Police later seized the weapon as evidence.
Witnesses reported that the suspect escaped in a black Audi A3 SE TDI. He was seen sitting in the passenger seat as the vehicle left the Premier Inn car park near the pub.
Officers apprehended the suspect at approximately 10 PM that same night on suspicion of affray. He has since been bailed until Sunday, October 13, while police continue their inquiries.
PC Izzy Deane commented, “The pub was packed with fans gearing up to watch the Euros final. This must have been a frightening ordeal for everyone there. We urge anyone with information to come forward – even small details can be crucial.”
