A 23-year-old man has been charged after an assault on a woman in Chatham during the early hours of Tuesday, 16 July. The incident prompted an immediate and strong response from Kent Police.

Mohammed Salah, from Coupland Place, London, faces charges of assault by beating and criminal damage. According to reports, Salah verbally harassed a woman on the street before the situation escalated into a physical confrontation when she asked him to leave her alone.

Kent Police officers quickly arrived at the scene and arrested Salah. He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 17 July where he was granted conditional bail. Salah is scheduled to return to Margate Magistrates’ Court on 18 October for further hearings.

Kent Police continue to investigate the attack and are urging anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. Information can be provided via the non-emergency police number or anonymously through Crimestoppers.
