Police caught 11 suspected migrants sprinting along the hard shoulder of the M20 near junction 4 for Leybourne after they reportedly bolted from a lorry.
Motorists phoned in frantic reports of people “running all over the place” near the motorway exit, causing chaos on the M20.
Officers swooped in and found the group around 10am.
A Kent Police spokesperson confirmed the migrants were believed to have been travelling in a lorry. “Inquiries are ongoing to locate this vehicle,” they added.
All 11 individuals have now been taken to a Home Office immigration enforcement centre in Folkestone for further processing.
