A major fire ripped through a property on Guildhall Street in Canterbury city centre on the evening of Monday, 2 December 2024. Kent Police quickly responded to support firefighters battling the blaze, which caused road closures and evacuations in the surrounding area.
Police have made three arrests connected to the incident. On Wednesday, 4 December, a 12-year-old girl was detained but later released on bail pending further enquiries. A 15-year-old boy arrested on Tuesday, 3 December, was also released on bail as investigations continue. Another 15-year-old boy from Ashford, arrested on Wednesday, 4 December, has been released without charge.
Kent Police are continuing their investigation and have appealed to the public for more information. Officers have thanked local residents who have already come forward and urged anyone with details to contact them on 01843 222289, quoting reference 03-0160.
