A lorry driver on the M20 faced a £200 fine and six penalty points after being caught using his mobile phone behind the wheel on two separate occasions. The situation escalated when the driver made a rude gesture towards officers in an unmarked police car.
The Kent Roads Policing Unit (RPU) apprehended the driver red-handed. Instead of cooperating, he responded by giving the officers the middle finger. The police promptly stopped the vehicle and issued the driver with an on-the-spot fine and penalty points.
The RPU shared the incident on social media, stating: “Lorry driver spotted using his mobile phone whilst driving on The M20 on two occasions decided to stick his middle finger up to the officers in the unmarked car. Kent Police highlighted that using a mobile phone while driving is one of the dangerous “Fatal Four” behaviours, alongside speeding, driving under the influence, and not wearing seatbelts. These actions significantly increase the risk of accidents.
The police have issued a clear warning that reckless driving and breaking the law will not be tolerated and will result in strict penalties. This incident serves as a reminder to all road users to respect traffic laws or face the consequences.
