A 17-year-old teenager has been charged with two counts of attempted robbery and assault after attempting to rob a shop twice in Broadway, Sheerness, on Tuesday, 10 December 2024.
The youth entered the store on two separate occasions the same day, demanding cash from the till. Both times, quick-thinking shop staff and customers refused to comply, forcing the suspect to leave without any money.
Kent Police were alerted following the second attempt and promptly located the suspect at a nearby address. The teenager was arrested and subsequently charged, appearing before Medway Magistrates’ Court two days later.
A Kent Police spokesperson said, “Thanks to the quick actions of staff and customers, the suspect was unable to carry out the robberies. We take incidents like these very seriously and will continue to support the victims throughout the legal process.”
The teenager remains in custody as the case progresses. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
