An eight-month-old baby girl was left critically injured after being attacked by an XL Bully dog inside a home on Siskin Close, Hawkinge, Kent, on Wednesday, 11 December.
The infant was immediately rushed to a hospital in London where she remains in critical condition.
Kent Police quickly seized the XL Bully dog involved in the attack. Contrary to circulating rumours, the dog was not shot but was humanely euthanised by a veterinarian.
Two suspects connected to the incident were arrested shortly after the attack. Both have since been released on bail as the police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the case.
A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Enquiries are being conducted to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. Our thoughts remain with the family of the young girl during this difficult time.”
The attack has reignited concerns about XL Bully dog ownership and public safety. This breed has been at the centre of ongoing debates regarding potential dangers and calls for stricter animal control regulations.
